MAGNOLIA IN A DAY

Here is your step-by-step guide on how to see all the Magnolia things, all in one day! My sweet friend Melissa Patterson lives near Waco and shared these priceless tips with us.Everything is fairly close to each other that you could easily knock it all out in one day if you wanted to, but if you have more than one day you can definitely spread it out.

Below is the route we took and had plenty of time to spare at the end of the day. This was in February, so I can’t vouch for other times of the year. I’m sure summer will be a lot busier. By the time you visit, the new coffee shop might be open so that will be another stop you should make. We first attempted this on a Saturday when we met family and friends. 😳 The amount of people y’all… oh my word. It was insane! We didn’t stay long, ha. We came back on that following Monday and it was way better! Try to go on a weekday and you’ll have a better chance of doing this all in one day.

If you follow everything in this order, it kind of makes one big loop around Waco…

1. Magnolia Table: Go here first. 2132 S Valley Mills Dr, Waco, TX 76706, 6am - 3pm Mon - Sat and CLOSED on Sunday. Get there right when they open or close to it. We arrived at 7:30 and there was a 30 minute wait. Your timing of this should depend on how soon you want to get to the Silos before they open at 9am.

2. The Silos and Magnolia Market: 601 Webster Ave, Waco, TX 76706, 9am-6am Mon - Sat and CLOSED on Sunday. Get in line for the bakery first! Otherwise, you might not get in there later on. Again, I highly suggest you go on a weekday if you want the least amount of crowds. Tuesday or Wednesday would be best. Parking is free. Lots of food trucks around the property.

3. Harp Design Co: We did not make it there, but people say it’s worth it to go: 808 N 15th St, Waco, TX 76707, 10am - 5pm Mon-Sat and CLOSED on Sunday.

* Try to find some fixer uppers just driving around. Most we happened on accidentally. I know if you go to the Castle Heights area (there’s an old historic castle there) the very first fixer upper is near there. *

4. The Original Magnolia Store: Now open and sells discounted items. We took our Magnolia Market receipt there and got an additional 10% off. 3801 Bosque Blvd, Waco, TX 76710. Same hours as Harp.

5. Chip and Jo’s House: On your way to Jimmy Don’s shop, you can drive past the farmhouse. We did this since it was on the way…I mean, why not? I had no idea you could see it from the main road. A white picket fence leads up to the 1700 square foot gorgeous farmhouse. Perfection. Did we turn around and drive slowly by it again? Heck yes we did! Google the address. 😉

6. JDH Iron Works: After you see their farmhouse, keep going straight and then go to Jimmy Don’s Shop. 9685 Lone Star Pkwy Valley Mills, TX. That being said, there was a JD store truck parked outside Magnolia that had a lot of his signs. But I really loved seeing his warehouse and you could watch people make the signs there. We have a few signs of his in our home, so it was neat seeing where they came from!

7. Bed and Breakfast: After that go to McGregor and see Chip and Jo’s Magnolia House bed and breakfast. 323 S Madison Ave McGregor, TX. Tiny town but super cute! The house is so so pretty. I would give anything to stay there one day.

8. Antique Shops: On the way back to Waco (at this point you’ve made almost a complete loop) you will see The Cedar Chest antique store and The Cedar Chest Too. Both have been in fixer upper where they go look for antiques.

Homestead Heritage was one of my favorite stops of the day! Plan to eat at the cafe!

9. Homestead Heritage. This was our last stop, and honestly one of my FAVORITE stops of the entire day. It’s an agrarian community, and supposedly Joanna goes there to get work done by their black smith. There is a General Store, pottery store where you can watch them make it, black smith, farm, and a cafe. The cafe …oh my…let me tell y’all the food was AMAZING! It was honestly one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. The store and everything they make is a must see. 608 Dry Creek Rd, Waco, TX 76705 - same hours as Harp.

10. My biggest travel tip: Download the YELP app. This has saved us so many times when we are driving around and trying to find a good place to eat, shop, etc… People share real reviews with photos. We love it! Be sure to find me on there and see what I recommend as well.

Other tips from my friend:
- Health Camp is a really good hole in the wall hamburger/milkshake place.
- Rudy’s BBQ is good too
- Texas Ranger museum is nice if you like history.
- Dr. Pepper museum is nearby.
- Drive through the Baylor University campus, it’s really pretty.
- There are a bunch of antique stores on LaSalle Ave.

I hope this helps you on your trip to Waco! Please reach out to me with any questions you have. I think more than anything, you need to remember that patience is a virtue and HAVE FUN!!! 🌿

Special thanks again to Melissa for sharing these tips with us!
