It’s time for a change.

I used to go to Facebook for friendship validation…

“Did she tag me in a post?”
“Post a picture from our trip?”
“Mention me in a comment?”
“Comment on my post?”

I used to legit get hurt when my friends didn’t do these things. 👈🏼 This sounds so silly to type out, but I know if it happened to me, it happens to you. What the heck y’all?! What kind of culture are we creating that we are seeking validation from a website?! See, I was looking in the wrong spot. I was looking at a screen, and I wasn’t digging in my Bible.

This is why I had to let FB go from my phone. ✌🏼 It’s been 3 weeks of pure amazingness.

My friends in real life matter more. They show up. They make me feel loved and special. Facebook is not real life. It’s what people want you to think/see. Are you truly even friends with the 500+ people you are “friends” with online?

My Jesus matters more. Digging in the word instead of scrolling a feed has been so rewarding. He fills my cup more than “friends” online ever could.

I want to challenge you: Step away. Delete the Facebook app for a week. Or Instagram. Or whichever app is holding you back from LIFE. See how much better you feel. My husband even says he can tell a difference in my attitude. Run a business that has a Facebook group? I do too, that’s not an excuse. I set aside work hours on the computer, go to Facebook to work my scheduled time, and then I’m done. If I can do it, you can too.

What’s the worst that could happen?
- You miss out on drama.
-You won’t see posts from friends which will force you to actually engage with them in real life. 😱
-You won’t get your feelings hurt.
-You won’t get upset when someone doesn’t comment or mention you in a comment.
-You won’t have strangers making you mad about politics.
-I mean, heaven forbid you miss the post of what Karen had for lunch!

What’s the best that could happen?
-More time in the Word.
-More time with family.
-Less time focusing on what others are doing.
-More time LIVING!

if you haven’t yet, I highly recommend watching the Social Dilemma on Netflix. It’s a game changer.

Am I still on Instagram? Yes. I don’t struggle there like I did on Facebook. I can get on, make a post, and be done. I don’t get sucked in. People are nicer over there too.

Will I have Facebook on my phone again one day? I might. But for now, this time I am getting in the Word and with my family is so much better. I choose them…
